Shifted this blog to Bluehost.

web-hosting

I was previously hosting this blog on a small webhost – 2gbhosting,because it was cheap. But I decided  to move this blog  and  my other  sites to Bluehost as soon as my hosting plan at 2gbhosting is completed which was due in May’09.

But have to move it a lot earlier. The main reason being my forum – webmasters-forum.org .I recently purchased the license for vbseo script for my forum which cost me $149. But after installing it on my forum, there were some redirecting errors. I contacted my webhost about this, they said their do not support url redirection. I had no option other than to change my host.

I chose Bluehost for hosting both this blog and my forum. Though it have many features, the main reason I chose it was – host multiple domains on one hosting plan. This feature was in addition to unlimited diskspace( it’s 1500 GB) and also unmetered bandwidth (it’s also 1500 GB). I also did some research about Bluehost – its support, its uptime, etc. And found that everything is fine with Bluehost.

But one thing I didnt like Bluehost while purchasing a hosting plan, that they have raised their prices. I checked a few days earlier(15 days), it was $7.95/month for one year and $6.95/month for 2 years. But now they have made it – $8.95/mo. for 1year , $7.95/mo. for 2 years and $6.95/mo. for 3 years. But I still found it reasonable as compared to its competitors.

Now as I have shifted to another host with Apache mod_rewrite enabled server, I got rid of 404 permalink error , and from now I’ll make regular posts.

At last permalink 404 error problem solved……..

permalink-404-error

In my last post I mentioned that after upgrading to Wordpress 2.6 I got this permalink problem.

I did some research and found that you need to have Apache server with rewrite_mod enabled for the permalink structure to work. I enquired my host about the server type – which was IIS which was not supporting the rewrite function. That was the main reason for permalink 404 error in my case.

Now I changed my host (to Apache server) and also upgraded to Wordpress 2.6.1 version, and now my premalinks are working fine now.

Don’t know whether it’s because of changing host or upgrade to higher version, but I got rid of this permalink 404 error at last.
