3 basic techniques to get start with your blog.

Blogging these days has become a way to earn livelihood rather than just “out of interest” thing as it was earlier. We write posts, so that others will read, which will help them solve there problems or in any other way.

But we not only write, we also do many other things to get more traffic to our blog, which works for some and not at all for others. Even if your not doing anything fancy and you just keep writing unique and helpful content, eventually you will pick up some decent traffic, thanks to the search engines

But if some basic techniques can get you more traffic early, then why not give it a try??

Here are three basic blog strategies which every blogger must do :-

1. Link Love:

The most basic thing, develope links to your blog. And the most effective strategy (according to me) is quality link exchange. What you need to do is search for blogs related to your genre (Google Blog Search) and leave a request for link exchange in their contact form or in comment. Just try to be reasonable while doing this, obviously PR4 will not like link exchange with a PR0-1.

Other thin g you can do for links is commenting which was not that useful for me.

2. Submit All Your Blogging To Web 2.0:

The way you get fast rankings that stay for certain keywords is by submitting them to sites that the search engines love…Web 2.0 sites.

This includes the bookmarking sites, status sites and all the social sites…

One problem though… We all don’t have time to go one by one and post to all of them…

So you use a tool called OnlyWire.com and submit it all at once. Just go there and set up all the accounts and then with just a push of a button you can submit your link, instantly giving you high rankings.

3. RSS Feeds

Include a RSS subscribe box at the bottom of your posts, this will encourage people to visit your site regularly.

If you are doing a good job with your posts most people will want to read more of your stuff. Just make sure what your offering them is quality content, that is important to them.

Just follow these 3 steps and you will definitely see a decent rise in your blog traffic.

There is tremendous increase in the number of bloggers all over the world. Earlier many use to blog just for fun, now they are making their living from blogging. This has given rise to very high competition. Today almost every niche have many more competitors.

So, what can help you make your blog stand out from rest others and get more audiences?

Well here are some essential things which you should consider while attempting to improve your blog –

1. Content -

First and foremost thing is the content. Try to add as much content and and as frequent as possible. This single measure can solve all other problems and get you lots of targetted traffic through search engines. Though no search engine penalizes for duplicate content, try to post unique content as its essential to develope loyal readers for your blog.

2. Design -

If you are making some dollars from your blog now, then its time to spend some dollars on the look of your blog. You can spend it to buy a Professional Theme for your blog. A professional theme can not only get you more readers, but also increases the chances of getting more direct advertisers for your blog. So, its always better to invest on look of your blog.

3. Backlinks -

Now, if you are adding some unique and useful content then you can get backlinks without any extra efforts. Otherwise developing backlinks can be a very tedious job. Various methods include – link exchange, do-follow blog commenting, do-follow forum posting, top-commentator blogs commenting extra. Backlinks can get you a higher ranking i search engine results, and thus increase your traffic.

There may be other things also,, but these are the most basic things for any site.

Simple Steps to Develope Loyal Readers for your Blog.

Everybody these days want to blog, some people want to blog to express their views or just as a passion/habit, while many people want to earn money from their blogs. It’s good to earn from your blogs, but earning should not be the sole purpose of your blog. You should also concentrate on adding loyal readers to your blog, which can help you a great way in increasing your site revenues.

Here are some simple and easy to implement tips to increase visitors and reader base of your blog -

I. Find out your Niche

First and foremost thing is to find out the niche for your blog. You should write on the topic you know the best. This will narrow down the topics to a specific category that you know the best. This will let you write quality content for your posts, also you will not have to copy content form other sites for unrelated/unknown topics. Also, writing a niche blog will let you get specific visitors for your blog and increase your private ads sales.

II. Write for your readers –

This is most important step. Whatever category/topic you write about, your content should be directed towards your visitors/readers. Just visit your blog as a visitor and read it like them, think on points which you look for when you visit other blogs, and try to improve your content for your readers.

III. Write specific posts –

When you write any new post on your blog, first of all think about a specific topic and write about that topic only. Try not to include everything in that single post. For example, if you write about Diabetes Mellitus, try not to include everything from its causes, pathogenesis, clinical features and treatment and followup in single post. You can easily break it down in 5 posts on different topics about Diabetes Mellitus.

IV. Respond to comments –

If the visitor reading your blog agrees or disagrees your views he may post a comment to express it. Even if the reader disagrees your views, don’t delete the comment also, try to make clear your points. In other words publish every single genuine comment and try to respond to them. This will definitely increase comments on your blog and subsequently loyal readers for your blog.

V. Surf other blogs –

Thinking of promoting your blog does not mean that you do not read other’s blogs. In fact reading other’s blogs and leaving a comment there can be a great way to increase loyal readers for your blog.

VI. Link other blogs –

If you think that conet on some blog is really of good quality and needs a backlink, don’t hesitate to give one. The blog you linked can give you a linkback in return, which is crucial in your search engine ranking. Also if you yourself write some good quality content you can expect some backlinks for your blog also.

How to get Direct Advertisers for your site or blog?

Once you have well established your site and are getting good consistent traffic then you may look for direct advsertisers for your site. But getting direct visitors for your site can be very tough.

Lets first see the merits and demerits of Direct Advertising -

Merits

♣ No revenue Share - This is the most important merit. If you are displaying ads through advertising networks, they keep their share in your revenue, while this is not the case with direct advertisers. Here you receive 100% of what they pay for ads on your site…. thus you get more money comparatively.

♣ Contact with Advertisers – As you are in direct contact with advertisers you can set the rates of your adspaces yourself and also you can bargain for rates whenever required, which is not possible with third party networks. Also if you have convinced the advertiser well you can get a long term contract for advertising and thus more money.

Demerits

♣ Time Consuming - It is the biggest demerit of direct advertising. It is very difficult to get potential advertisers for your site. Once you have got them, you have to convince them to place ads on your site at some reasonable rates. All this process is very time consuming and frustrating. While with Advertising networks, you display ads immediately after placing their code.

♣ Disputes – This is quite common in direct advertising, some advertisers may even demand refund citing the reason of not getting adequate traffic from ads.

Few points you should consider before looking for Direct Advertisers -

♣ Professional looking design – It very important for you to have a professional design before looking for advertisers. You may have to shed some dollars for this or do extensive search for free premium templates. These templates usually have adspots at suitable places, increasing your chances of getting ads.

♣ General Statistics – You should have complete data on general statistics like daily traffic, Alexa rank, Google PageRank, RSS readers.

♣ Types of Advertisers – You should have clear idea of what type of sites you will allow for advertising.(e.g. you may not want to advertise for adult, gambling etc type of sites)

♣ ‘Advertise Here’ page – You should have one ‘Advertise here’ page, where you should mention about your site, its stats, any acheivements or awards, adspaces available, payment options, contact details….etc.

With these things in place you sholud start your search for potential advertisers.

You can place your advertising space for sale liting at some popular forums like -

°Digital Point Forums
°Site Point Marketplace

You can also contact the potential advertisers directly through email or phone. You can find direct advertisers by following ways -

1. Visit other sites of your niche and look who is advertising there, they can be interested in advertising on your site also.

2. You can also contact the Adwords advertisers whose ads are being displayed through adsense on your site.

3. Check for the sites related to your niche spending money on affiliate programmes.

4, Advertisers whose ads are displayed when you search for keywords related to your site.

Now that you have got your potential advertisers, send them a nice email stating the purpose of email, few things about your blog, its stats etc.

Try not to mention about the rates initially, as you may not know the budget of other party. Also if your blog is not very popular you may not get the deals at your price. So always start from low, and if you are getting better results then you may increase rates slowly.

How to earn money from your site or blog?

Now-a-days internet has become a part of daily life and it have opened a lot of portals of earning money by sitting at your home (obviously in front on computer). One of these portals is through monetization of your site.

There are various ways to earn money through your site, but the most commonly employed method is by displaying ads. Here, I am going to write about this method only.

You display ads on your site, either through some advertisement networks like Google Adsense, etc or by contact individually with the potential advertisers.Both options have its merits and demerits, like with Advertising networks, you dont have to worry about getting advertisers, you have to just place one HTML code on your site and related ads are automatically displayed on your site, while with direct advertisers you have to first search for potential advertisers and later convince them to place their ads on your site at some reasonable price, but with direct advertisers you get 100% of what the advertiser pays for their ads which is not the case with Advertising networks, they keep their commission and give you remaining earnings. There are many other merits-demerits but I’ll not like to get into details.

For my sites I use both Advertising networks as well as direct advertisers.

Some important advertising networks I would like to mention are -

♣ Google Adsense -

Its the most commonly used advertising network. It accepts publishers from most of the countries. It displays contextual ads on your site, and you get paid for the clicks your visitor makes. If you have a high content site I’ll recommend this.

♣ Adbrite -

It is also very common these days, publishers banned from Adsense especially those having warez sites are exclusively using this network.My experiment with Adbrite was not good, I earned less than one-fourth of what I earns with Adsense,,,,, well I just used it for 1 month only. So, if you are having warez sites, or you’ve been banned from Adsense I’ll recommend this network. Between Adsense and Adbrite, Adsense is a lot better. Important point to note is that you cannot use both networks ads simultaneously on your site.

♣ CPM networks -

These netwoks pay for the page impressions your site gets. The clicks doesn’t matter in this case. Some important CPM networks are – Casale Media, Tribal Fusion, Burst Media etc. This can be used simultaneously with Adsense.

♣ Text Link Ads networks -

This networks places links of interested sites on your blog and you get paid fixed amount monthly for that link. The best link ads netowrk is Text Link Ads (according to me).Here the breakout of the earnings is 50-50 i.e. you get 50% of what advertiser pays for link on your site.

♣ In Text advertising -

Here the ads do not consume any more space on your site, but these are displayed in the form of underlines on important keyword, and pop-up opens when visitor brings cursor on that word. Here you get paid for clicks that your ads receive. The most leading network in this category is Kontera.

This is all with Advertising networks I’ll write in deatils about them and the direct advertisers in subsequent posts.

Are ‘How to blog?’ ebooks really worth it?

Now this is a recent trend seen, may established bloggers are now writing ebooks on ‘How to blog?’ and sell them at high cost.Whenever you visit their blog you may see this banner, asking you to buy their book and earn more from your blogs. You may also seen their banner on other sites which get share for every sale.

I once bought such ‘How to blog?’ ebook and checked out what it really contains. Though I will not disclose here, who was the author of that book.

It was having total 34 pages. The book started with the introduction about author. Then it explained what is blogging, what are different blogging platforms etc. etc…. But it was no different from what I’ve read so many times over internet.

Next was importance of good content and how to write good content. Again nothing new,you may get same tips on the authors own blog, about how to write good content.

Next was traffic. Here also I got disappointed because the methods listed were outdated and I myself know more methods on how to get more traffic. After that keyword research, PPC campaigning etc.

After reading that ‘How to blog?’ ebook I think that why shall anybody spend money on such thing when you can get more usful and practical information by reading blogs and doing some reasearch yourself. May be other such ebooks are not like this one or some ebooks may be really helpful. But I myself will neiteher buy any such ebook in future nor will attemt to write one .

Final advice – try to read as many reviews as possible about the book before buying it. But again many of these review writers may be getting share from sale of that book, so try to find it out in some forums like Digital Point etc.

Link Exchange plugin for WordPress.

Link exchange is one of the most important methods to increase your link popularity and get more traffic for your site. You can do reciprocal link exchange manually or by using some link exchange scripts.

I prefer the scripts over the manual process as later is very time consuming and at times frustrating, and with scripts you can automatically check whether the links for your sites still exist or not, and can delete links of sites not showing your links.

If you are having a WordPress blog, then I’ll recommend you this plugin named ‘WordPress Reciprocal Links’ created by Baccega Andrea. With this plugin you can show the recciprocal link exchange form and the listing of reciprocal links on seperate page or post wherever you want.

There are pther php scripts available for reciprocal link exchange programme, but this is better as it is integrated with your blog’s design and everything.

Back after a long GAP……….

Hello friends, its been 4 months since I made my last post. Actually I was busy wid my exams, and after that my bro’s marriage. But now, I am quite free for 2-3 months as I have failed in my final exams (my prof. failed me in surgery practical exam….don’t know, why?? )

So i’ll be able to update this blog regularly ( at least i think so….you know, how difficult it is to maintain your blog and keep it up-to-date).

At this stage I am a bit confused, about what to write and what to not , I know it will take some time to return back to the earlier stage.

This time I’ve decided to concentrate more on this blog, and get some good ranks in Alexa and Google PageRank.

So guys just wish me luck………..

How to increase traffic to your new blog?

Now this a very common and important question before most of the bloggers after they start blogging.These days its really difficult to increase traffic to your blog because of increase in competition.

Some common things that everybody including myself will suggest are -

Unique and quality content.
Building backlinks for your blog.
Submitting blog to various search engines.
Advertising.

All the above options except the last one are free, but they will get you visitors in long term , i.e. they will not bring visitors to your blogs instantly. If you have some good budget you can try various ad networks to get quality visitors for your blog, though I’ll suggest Google Adwords.

You can also use traffic exchange or auto-surf methods to increase traffic to your blog.

One such site is BlogExplosion. Here you surf the members blogs for which you get credits which can be used to get traffic for your blog. But one controversy that surrounds BlogExplosion is it’s compatibility with Google Adsense. Adsense considers traffic referred from blogexplosion as invalid and may send you warnings or permanently terminate your account. So if you are using Google Adsense to monetize your blog I would suggest you to stay away from BlogExplosion.

Other such site is Entrecard. Here also you get credits for visiting other members sites which can be used to advertise on other members site. I don’t know whether Adsense accepts such traffic from Entrecard or not.

There may be other methods, which I may have missed, to increase traffic to your blog.

In the end I will suggest you Unique content and Link building as these will really help you in getting good traffic to your blog in long term.
